Do you require TOEFL/IELTS scores?

No, we don’t require any type of English test results in order to be admitted.

New students will be required to take the SBCC English Assessment Test upon arrival. The purpose of the test is to assess English skills and place students in the appropriate English courses.

I did not graduate high school. Can I still apply?

A High School diploma is not required. All students must be at least 18 years of age by the time they commence studies at SBCC.

What if I haven’t graduated from grade 12, do I have to wait to submit all of my transcripts?

If classes at your current school are still in session, you can submit a transcript showing only your completed courses and available grades.

Students should submit complete transcripts with their final grades once they become available, or bring them with you. Complete official high school and/or college transcripts are needed for athletic eligibility, course pre-requisite challenges, university transfer planning, and other academic planning purposes.

Is there an Admission test? What if I don’t pass the test?

No, there is not an admission test.

I’m only attending one semester. Do I still need to show proof of funding for an entire academic year?

Yes, students are required to show proof of funding for a full year even if they are only planning to attend one semester.

Do you accept government study grants and/or government loans to show proof of sufficient funds to study at SBCC?

We do accept government grants/loans as a funding source, as long as SBCC is not required to bill/invoice the government agency to receive payments for tuition.

Do you offer scholarships?

We do not offer scholarships for prospective or new international students. Currently registered SBCC students are eligible to apply for some scholarships each year in February. Students should not plan to rely on SBCC Scholarships as a source of funding.

I already have health insurance. Do I still need to pay for health insurance?

Yes, the school-endorsed health insurance plan is required for all students.

How long does it take to complete an associate degree?

Students who start their SBCC program from freshmen year typically take 2-3 years to complete an associate’s degree and/or transfer requirements towards a bachelor’s degree. Factors that determine the length of your program include: the number of English and math classes you need, your major, the number of credits you successfully complete each semester, attendance in one or both summer sessions, and your transfer goals.

How do I submit my application?

Submit the required documents listed on the Application Checklist.

Scan all of your application documents and save in PDF format (Scan quality: 300 dpi).

Upload your documents to www.sbcc.edu/intlapp.

You will receive an email about the status of your application within 10 business days.

When will I receive an admissions decision and how will I be notified?

Admission decisions are sent within 7-10 business days to the email address listed on your application if your application is complete. Please make sure that your e-mail address is clear and easy to read.

The acceptance packet is mailed to the address listed on your application, unless we are informed of a preferred alternative address at the time you apply.

If you wish to have your acceptance packet sent via FedEx, DHL or UPS, please make your request online at eShipGlobal. Sign up in the section for students and enter the shipping address and payment. We will receive confirmation that you placed your order and will mail your acceptance packet the following business day.
